Court bailiffs are judicial officers appointed by the Grand Duke who practise independently and are exclusively entitled to:
1) serve documents and writs and serve notifications established by law and rules, unless the mode of serving has not been ruled by law (i.e.summonses, private and domicile interdictions) ;
2) execute judicial decisions and authentic documents or writs (seizures, forced sales, evictions).
Court bailiffs can value and sell publicly furniture,chattels and crops. They can be committed by court order to draw up purely material establishments , without giving any "de facto" or "de jure" judgment refering to these; they can also do these establishments on behalf of individuals ( e.g.before or after immobile rental contracts, establishments of damages with different origins).
All court bailiffs are members of the Chamber of Court Bailiffs in Luxembourg City.
Service area :A court bailiff can serve in the whole district where he has been appointed.

Detailed list of the judicial district of Diekirch
There are two judicial districts in the Grand Duchy: Luxembourg and Diekirch.In each district there is a district court. In Diekirch exists a justice of the peace. In the district of Luxembourg there are two justices of the peace: one in Luxembourg City and the other in Esch-Alzette. In civil or commercial matters, personal or mobile and in immobile matters the justice of the peace is competent in last resort to the amount of 1.250.- euros and with the right to appeal to the amount of 10.000.- euros. In Luxembourg City there is the Supreme Court of Justice with the Court of Appeal and the Court of Cassation.
